Hi guys! How are you?

I'd like to inform you that I finally read the latest BtVS issue. Goddamn, I know! I took me a while, but I'm finally here too. So under the cut you can find my opinions about the issue in question, but also.

I'd like to write another HP fanfic, another Drarry one but ... from Lucius Malfoy's point of view? Which weird, because I disliked Lucius, but also he truly loved Draco, even if he was a strict father and I just have so many feelings about parent/child relationships, especially when they are complex and slightly dysfunctinal, don't ever let me start. Anyone has suggestions or opinions on Lucius and why I conceived such stupid idea?

Harry and Buffy have so much in common that I think I might have "a type" when it comes to fave cinnamon rolls heroes who die for our sins. Also when DanRad became so fucking hot? The beard, guys. THE BEARD.

Anyway

Here's my thoughts on issue #18 )
kikimay: (Wants to see Spangel. With oil)
Hi guys! I'm taking a pause from the Harry Potter commentary (HP is so great!) to talk about the latest BtVS comic issue.

It's really hot in here and I'm very tired, so I could be more pointless than I usually am. But I'm having so many feelings about so many characters right now and I want to ship all the things and express my love for all the characters I care about and, really, DRACO AND HARRY BELONG TOGETHER, RAY VELCORO IS THE ULTIMATE LIFE COATCH, WHY CAN'T WE HAVE NICE CANON SPUFFEL? Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy are so hot, I don't want to ship that ship but also hot men having sex is hot. What is life!!1!!11!

I'm kinda in this sort of mood. Sorry.

This issue is cute and I like it )
kikimay: (How do you like my darkness now?)
Hi guys, I just wrote another prompt.

This time I picked the one sent me on Tumblr which is originally "post NFA Buffy wonders about Spike and Angel's relationship" and I ended up trying to explore Buffy's relationship with both vampires and her feelings after she finds them alive. So expect some Buffy/Angel and Buffy/Spike interaction. I really hope you like it.

Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] carlyinrome for her precious help as beta. (I'll work on your requests soon!)

Hi guys!

Today I went to see the kids' concert before the school is over, because my godchild was playing. It was exhausting XD We were in a very small auditorium filled with parents, but the kids were so cute and she was very precise. Adorable. While I was waiting for the concert to start I wrote this thing.

Another prompt featuring Dru, because it just seems to be easier to write about her, but I'm working on the other prompts too, don't worry. (Actually this is mostly Angel than Dru, but anyway) I really hope you like the result.

Many thanks to my beta [livejournal.com profile] carlyinrome who corrected the first draft and the second in something like 5 minutes.

Hi guys! Quick post because I have so many feelings.

1) Still searching for a beta.

2) I just changed my default icon and it's so amazing and badass looking.

3) Still thinking about writing a Spangel - Angel & Spike - Spuffel fic?

4) The cover art for Buffy season 10 issue 18 is THE MOST AMAZING THING EVER. I'm in awe.

Look! Buffy's a goddess! )

This cover fills me with hope, actually.

Maybe it's nothing and, I'm sure of it, it won't be Angel and Buffy's last encounter and maybe it's just a phase or something and soon things will be back again. Same old same old. But anyway, I really think it's an amazing piece of art and the symbolism makes me so happy.

Look at Buffy's face. Just look at her. She seems so happy, carefree and ... free, really. I haven't seen a look like that since Chosen and I'm the biggest fan of her final smile. No apologies.

She's looking at the sky, she's looking foward and she seems strong and calm and incredibly alive. (Also bonus points to Steve Morris because he nailed Buffy's physicality and sense of fashion. She doesn't have impressive boobs and she does have glorious hair and she's beautiful)

And, Jesus take the wheel, she's WALKING AWAY. She is! Look at Angel's face as he stands behind! Look at the cross he gave to her! *symbology boner* Is she finally moving on? Is she finally leaving her past behind and looking for something better?

You know, it's all speculation and we still know nothing about Angel/Buffy interaction and probably it won't happen anything (Considering this points I'm not putting this under spoiler) but it's just SO ICONIC.

Angel was the one walking away. Always. The one deciding, the one coming back and going to LA and having full agency on his choices. And I'm always angry because it's an issue that was never fully addressed. While we all agree that S6 Spuffy was unhealthy and Riley was a moron, Angel hurt her in a most subtle and everlasting ways. She imprinted on him and it was a neverending abandonament and trauma issue. He was Hank all over again.

And she always dealt and she always waited for him to come back. Well, I just love to see Buffy taking back her agency and deciding on her own and Angel being the one who has to deal, finally. I just love to see her leaving him behind, because she deserves so much more.

And, mind you, I'm telling this shipping preferences aside. I would actually love to see Buffy and Angel becoming really friends and maybe working on their relationship in the future. I actually ship Spuffel and I lovelovelovelovelove Angel and Spike so much, these two vampire dorks with issues are in my heart and I will always love (and ship) them.

It's just that Buffy is my homegirl and if she overcomes trauma and old demons it's such a glorious day.

Everybody is asleep and I'm super awake, which means POLL TIME! *CCC*

It's actually my first poll ever and I don't know if I did it properly because I don't have a plus account. Bear with me.

I would like to ask you about Angel. I love this character so much. I actually have a complicated relationship with him because I love him and I wish I didn't it, but I find him endlessly fascinating and DB has soulful labrador eyes.

The canon isn't very consistent with his dichotomy and I'm very curious to know what you guys think about that.

Take this poll about Angel/us and keep me company, for the night is dark and full of terrors!

Can everybody notice how curious I am? )
kikimay: (Saunders. Broken doll)
Guys, hi! How are you?

Big stuff happened in the comics and I'm happy about it. I'll probably do a whole post on that, if I'll come up with something remotely interesting to say. But, you know, aaaaawww, OTP. <3

I'm still suffering from a fucked up sleeping pattern and I don't expect to sleep at all tonight, so if you want to keep me company you're welcome here.

And I did it. I wrote the first chapter of the apocalyptic Spangel fic. I hope it's interesting. It's supposed to be a very simple fic with 5 chapters top, but it could be read as a one-shot too, I guess. It's all about Spike and Angel and their relationship. Post NFA.

It will be very angst, so you're warned, and a little bit dark. (And maybe it's not the right time to post something Spangel? But whatever. Can't sleep)

Many thanks to http://drusillathekiller.tumblr.com/ who helped me once again.

I stole the title from that National's song, because I don't have imagination.

If you want doomed/established Spangel click on the cut and let me know if this thing deserves another chapter.

Forever After Days )
kikimay: (Glare)

Hi guys, how are you?

I'm currently totally fucked with my sleeping/studying schedule. I feel sick when I think about it so I don't and I enjoy the relaxing apathy that comes from absolute denial. I'm the worst person ever.

On a completely unrelated note - and since I'm that irresponsible right now - I want to write a Spangel so bad. I actually miss writing about Angel, but it's weird because he plays such a huge part in the Drusilla's story. But yeah, as the evil father. I miss the other part of him, the tormented trying-to-be-good warrior hero. I like to write about him. He's such an interesting character and I have a complicated relationship with him. (I also miss the part where Angel and Spike do it which is hot and a favorite fantasy of mine.)

So maybe I could write about him if I have a decent/not already used idea? That would be good. So far I have lots of angsty ideas, because Angel comes with the pain and some very fluffy stuff (Like Angel being human and sick and Spike taking care of him) because he has a cute face.

I already wrote in Italian a WIP - but then I deleted it - in which Spike, Angel and Illyria are human, post Not Fade Away, and I would love to go there but it takes time and it's a multichaptered and I should have priorities in my life. (FUCK ME). So maybe focusing on something short, easy, terribly angsty because WTF would be the best for now.

If you have something inspirational (music/vid/shirtless hot men) send it to me. Maybe I won't be a constipated writer anymore.

Meanwhile I could post another chapter of Dreams and Mirrors, because this story is becoming my sweet baby and I can't stop writing more chapterSEND HELP.

So in the end I'm the worst student ever, an irresponsible person and a committed writer.

(I also may have watched some Bones episodes to satisfy my DB need. I quitted Bones long ago because I was watching only for David and S7 was boring. It's still the most happy procedural ever, where everything goes just the way it supposed to. I see that Bones and Booth now have a child, they are married and happy. In 10x01 we had the most convenient death ever. Booth was in jail but only for half of the episode and now he's already taking his rightful place in the narrative. Wow, pathos. The writers know how to scare us. It says something, I think, when you even't watched two seasons but you can perfectly understand everything that happens. However shirtless David. Weird!beard David.

I miss Angel)

kikimay: (Wants to see Spangel. With oil.)
Hi! How are you? Hope you're enjoying the last days of this year.

I'm eating chocolate cake, relaxing and I'm still rewatching Angel the Series.

As always the rewatch is very messy. I really can't follow the right order, I like to jump from point to point and see the episode I like to see. I'm a chaotic watcher and also I already know this show so I don't really need to follow the right order. I've watched so many S4 episodes just to enjoy evil!Cordy's evil!schemes and the general dark massacre that the Beast gently brought to us. Also Jasmine. I LOVE Jasmine's arc and that's actually my favorite when it comes to Fred. She displays bravery and intelligence before everything gets back in the men's hands. And Jasmine is the most intriguing Big Bad.

But - messy rewatcher - I jumped into S5 and, since 5x01 wasn't avaible on streaming, I rewatched Just Rewards.

Here's some bullet points:

- Angel's very petty when Spike is involved.

- And Spike does his best to annoy Angel to death

- They actually have a very similar relationship to Buffy and Spike during S4. Angel's annoyed as much as Buffy in S4 and S5.

- I'm actually not 100% sure about Gunn wanting to be the super-layer. I never questioned his choice before - it's true that he needs to feel useful and active part of the team - but Gunn is also a very good man with a strong sense of right and wrong. Still he does look good in a suit.

- I love Harmony. She's adorable. And Spike never felt the need to apologize for his dickish behavior even with a soul, Christos Gage. He has a soul, he's not a saint.

- Fred looks so HOT. I like her new hairstyle and the Wolfram and Hart fashion choices are kickass.

And these are my very deep considerations for now.

I'd like to also pimp a beautiful video. I just discovered it thanks to Restfield on tumblr:

Scarlett Ribbons. It's about the slayers and it's very poignant. I think some of you will appreciate it a lot ([livejournal.com profile] red_satin_doll do you like it?) certainly I did.
kikimay: (If the apocalypse comes beep me)

Hi guys, how are you doing?

Hope you're all having a quiet (or frenzy, if you prefer) joyful Christmas and I hope you're all happy and safe. I'm enjoying the quiet, to be honest, and my family.

Fannish things I want to talk about:

- I saw Guardians of Galaxy. Very cute. I still prefer Thor though, I found it more funny and maybe I'm more invested in the characters, but I loved Peter Quill and the other guardians. I loved the soundtrack so much! And Gamora. I LOVE Gamora. She's so badass and yet caring and very reasonable and very beautiful. Gamora <3 <3 <3

- I wrote a new chapter of Dreams and Mirrors and I'm waiting for the beta (-ing). Still very excited about this fic and about writing again, mostly. It does have very few hits compared to the Thorki one. Thorki is very popular right now and still I don't have anything interesting to add, on the Buffyverse instead ... it's still so incredibly fascinating for me.

- Because of [livejournal.com profile] ever_neutral's post about WTF storylines I'm rewatching S4 of AtS. And I love it, tbh. It's a terrible season for a Cordy fan but there is a giant hell beast, some mystery, rain of fire and apocalypse, zombies, Jasmine. I MEAN. So awesome. I enjoy it too much. I'm rewatching from episode 5, I think, because I suck at watching the things in the right order and I'm enjoying it. Maybe I'll watch again all AtS, if I have time.

Things I think about S4:

* SO FUN

* Poor Charisma Carpenter.

* I'm still curious to know what Whedon had in mind originally. It would have been more interesting to see Cordelia - the real Cordy - going dark and I think it would have been connected with hubris, because S4 seems a Greek tragedy in some ways and Cordelia touched amazing power.

* The love triangle Wes/Gunn/Fred is meh as I remembered. Fred leaves me indifferent, mostly. It's strange because I should relate with her the most since we are so similar, but I don't. I care more about Cordy.

* The rain of fire is awesome. More of that.

* The Beast is such a fun villain.

* Angel handles things poorly, but he tries.

*Father and son in love with the same woman is disturbing. And the most disturbing thing is seeing a father having some kind of vibes for his son, but I guess I understand more the Angel/Connor incest thing because seriously these guys are fucked up, they love each others and there's an insane amound of rivarly involved.

* I would like to touch Angel's arms, just to know how it feels. And Cordy's boobs. And Amy Acker even if she's got hotter with age.

kikimay: (Buffy and Willow)
Hello guys! Nice evening (or morning, or night?) to everyone.

I'm so hungry these days. I want to eat everything and especially chocolate and cheese, which is not the smartest choice since this is supposed to be time to show off bodies and stuff. (But I never worry too much about that) And while I'm trying to resist at the sweet syren song of chocolate the mosquitoes are literally eating me alive. It's not fair.

Things I'm watching: I'm currently watching S2 of Orange is the New Black. I didn't watch some episodes of S1 and I'm jumping back and foward - as I usually do when I have a whole new series to watch, I just can't follow the right order - I'm still liking it. I especially like the characters' backstories and the new antagonist, Vee, is a very interesting character and so I don't miss too much Alex. Very interested in Vee's and Red's backstory and why they know each other so well. I'm also curious about the whole incident with Pornstache and the clandestine couple. (I like the new "owners" of the kitchen, especially Mendoza)

I also rewatched S1 of Buffy, the first two episodes. To me Buffy started with S2. (The episodes I watched for the first time came from S2) So it's always kinda curious to see that there was a season before. The fashion in the first season is so bad and the fightings are almost embarassing (They really didn't have a lot of money) but it's very nice to rewatch it, especially after reading good metas. I'm thinking about [livejournal.com profile] sunclouds33's reasons to like Buffy: here.

It's all true! Buffy's like a tiny blonde Jessica Fletcher. In the first episodes is very clear, especially since she doesn't really fight a lot (Or, to say it better, the fights aren't great. She did pick an epic fight against Luke and Darla). She investigates and she knows who's the vampire by looking at the details such as the wardrobe choices. It's really nice when a meta shifts the prospective and you realize some things you never actually catched before.

Rewatch thoughts:

- The first Buffy's outifit is not that bad. She's actually really cute with the boots, the mini-skirt and the white top. The make-up is maybe too much, but it gets better in S2. SMG's body type was really different from the other seasons, that's something I've always think rewatching.

- I don't think that Cordelia was all that mean. Yes, she was really mean to Willow and it was unfair and she established her dominance by being mean to other people and using them (she wants to be Buffy's friend because she thinks that Buffy is cool, at first), but Jesse and Xander were kinda annoying. She doesn't want to go out or dance with you, give the girl a break!

- Willow's cute and she does have the wild card even in the first episodes. She hacks with computers and she follows the vampire after Buffy's suggestion to "seize the moment". And she didn't even really know Buffy at that time. (Which brings me to: Willow was always so very eager to play the good friend part to Buffy. She was eager for her approval and friendship and maybe she firstly assumed the Buffy's cheerleader role instead of making things about herself. Also it seems that Buffy is Willow's first female friend)

- Buffy's awesome. She chose Willow and Xander over Cordelia. She chose to be on the "losing" side instead of being Queen Bee of Sunnydale (Which she could easily have been after a bit of practice with slayer stuff) Also she cares a lot. She goes to Giles to say that she doesn't care while she's caring XD

- Buffy's still the character I relate/care the most, while partially relating to old school Willow.

- Darla seems so eager to please the Master and so scared by him. She almost seems a different character from AtS Darla. But at the heart I still consider her "patriarchy girl", if that makes sense. I think that she has a lot of power but it gets frustrated by the fact that it's always all about a man for her (The Master, Angel, Connor: the father, the husband and the son) She's the opposite of Buffy.

- Angel makes me laugh a lot and so does Giles. I mean, a guy suddently appears to tell you weird stuff and that's supposed to be attractive and/or mysterious. BE CLEAR, DUDE. XD People are dying, fucking say it as it is. And Giles is so innocent and doesn't know how to handle Buffy. That's almost cute!

- Joyce's hair is terrible. But I remember when my mom used a similar haircut. It always gets personal when I watch BtVS.

Second day of the meme. I was thinking to do this post tomorrow *already slipping* But I love you guys and I love to read your thoughts about BtVS.

But first of all let me tell you about me crying for tv-shows. I don't know if anyone in my f-list is watching True Detective. Today I saw the last episode of this season and I cried. I found it so beautiful and moving. The final scene reminded me a verse from The Divine Comedy. Amazing. Plus, I also watched the final episode of Looking (first season, still on HBO) and I found it touching and also beautiful.
Basically I cry a lot for stuff I like. I'm a crybaby when it comes to touching stories. And that brings me to my next topic.

Guys, listen to me. Angel and Whistler were just trying to help and save people. Just that.

Everything is forgiven.
kikimay: (Claire. Just built that way)
This morning I woke up with headache and, like always when it happens, I'm still having it. So I didn't do anything productive and I vomited words of broken hearted fangirl on SlayAlive about Angel and Spike. Because after the whole Twangel mess is just so hard to still love Angel. Or maybe - to be more precise - it's so hard to love the tale of Angel, the author's choices about him.
After the issue #20 of Angel and Faith I'm disappointed about the state of comics. And I was hopeful!girl for all S9. Even when that whole robo!Buffy/false pregnancy thing happened. (Which requires a lot of faith)
But, really, I can't bare the Angel fanboy routine anymore. I can't bare that there are no consequences in the portrayal of Angel and I can't bare that the dynamic between Spike and him didn't change.
I firmly think that life changes dynamics. You can maybe be born with that alpha-male crap thing (And I hate this definition) but then things happen and relationship get messy and you basically change and grow and shift your point of view. You live in a complex world, not in a safe shell. Instead, in A&F #20, we have S5 Spike and Angel comedy rebound. Like nothing had happened. And it's incredible because, for once, Angel could have view Spike as wiser than him. But no. Dynamics in the comics, apparently, are always the same.
And I read BtVS "The Watcher" issue and I find Buffy so OOC and inconsistent I can't even deal with that. So, yes, I blame it on the headache.

Meanwhile, I'm also reading something beautiful that breaks my heart in tiny little pieces.
Callie_Stephanides, here her AO3 page, is writing one of the best Thunderfrost I've ever read. (And I hope she eventually does the translation so the world can read it) It's a very Loki-centric story and it really goes deep into Loki's psychology and the core of his destructive and hateful behavior. Like in the original myth, Loki is the epithome of the rejected, the unwanted and the stranger. He doesn't share all the perfect Aesir traits and he's much weaker than Thor (or even Sif, for the matter) and he's so different in his needs from his Aesir family. It's really painful to read a story like that because of Loki pain all over the place and, generally, the pain that I think anyone who isn't perfect, always winning and always accepted by others can understand. Loki's tale in the Thor movie is maybe an old tale of internalized racism and hate. (Which is also interesting because, you know, a blockbuster - not so much for the deepest thoughts)
I'm not generally attracted to psycho characters but I can't help to love Loki more. Black little kitty of disfunction. I hope to find more good fanfics about him (and Thor, because I also love Thor). If you know some title or wrote something about the drama Norse bros, let me know.

I would also write more about him. Except that I apparently dream about a Loki fanfic and then forgot everything about the dream. Scumbag brain is scumbag.

So today I studied a bit - I still need to take it easy - and I spent the rest of my time watching beautiful dresses on Zalando. I'm planning to buy something. I really love ultra-feminine fashion - like pink or floreal dresses. Meanwhile my hair is very, very short so I guess I'm balancing everything.

I'm also waiting for the Ted meta written by [livejournal.com profile] red_satin_doll (I could also buy a red satin dress, you know? It would be awesome) and I rewatched the episode. I don't rewatch very much S2, mostly because of all the Bangel drama and because I get angry when Angel makes Buffy cry. I just noticed some differences between the English-speaking fandom and the Italian one. In Italian Buffy forums I generally read comments about how violent was Buffy - in Ted, yes - and how the episode it's about Buffy losing control and kicking a human ass, foreshadowing Dead Things basically. Nobody really thinks about how creepy Ted was and how dangerous is that, somehow, Angel is doing the same with Buffy; reproducing his "ex-wife" Darla in her and making her suffer. And, generally, when I read comments about this stuff it was all: Angel is such a complex character or Angel has a dark sensuality so he does stuff.
Basically Angel is a male.

I want to read comments that challenge the assumption that Angel can make Buffy sad because he's dark and brody and he has a violent past. Comments that don't talk about Angel's sexuality as a special snowflake. I have a right to get angry with a character when all he does is making suffer a 17 years old girl and parading around with his enormous ego - as Angelus.
I also know men like Angelus - in RL - and there is nothing special or alpha (Really? Can we throw in the trash centuries of sociology just like that?) about them.

So, yes: watching S2 makes me grumpy and this is a rant.
kikimay: (Dubious Buffybot)

It all started with   [livejournal.com profile] shadowkat67  post about Buffyverse and Religion.
Well, to be fair it started a long ago, because I love Greek mythology and so I make comparisons between my favourite myths and Buffyverse and I kinda wrote something in which Angel is like Persephone, but anyway - Associations between Buffyverse and myth.

Personally I know and love Greek/Roman mythology. It's part of my cultural heritage as Italian and it's something so full of meaning. I know so little about other myths and religion - apart from Christianism and Ebraism. I'm starting to discover Loki and Thor but just because I watched the movies and I fell in love with the characters. I knew too little about these two gods and their cultural surroundings (And, you know, if you have knowledge and informations about them, you're welcome to tell me everything. *w*)

Check out my big association )
